BIO
I am an Engineer, Author and proud resident of the great state of Maryland. As a child, I did not see enough representation of beautiful black children as characters in books read to me in Elementary School, so I decided to write about people and things that are different, in an effort to celebrate them.
My first book is entitled, Parker's Perfect Pink Poinsettia". Parker Brown is a beautiful, African American 6-year-old girl, who learns to appreciate beauty. She always thought plants should be green—until one day, a pink poinsettia catches her eye! Why is it different? Is it broken? Or… is it special? As Parker watches, wonders, and learns, she discovers that being different isn’t something to fix—it’s something to celebrate. This gentle, giggle-filled story helps young readers see beauty in life. I hope this book will be both entertaining as well as a simple way to look at a big challenge in society.
"A Letter to My People" articles encourage us all to adjust our outlook; not only for ourselves but for those watching.

Purpose
Navigating through life can be challenging for children and adults alike. Self-esteem, unwanted opinions, etc. can distract you from your destiny. Self-esteem begins at a young age and my books are meant to encourage positivity in children. Alysia Publishing includes books and articles to encourage us all.
